Why am I doing this?

I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now. I want a place to write my thoughts, but I worry about what people will think. So I'm not particularly interested in sharing my blog with people who know me. I want to blog anonymously, maybe making some new friends along the way. Perhaps no one will read it, but that's okay. I'll think of it sort of like a public diary where all the names have been changed to protect my identity. =)
